Sanshin Electric Co., Ltd brings together the functions of a technology-oriented trading company with the engineering and manufacturing capabilities of a custom power supply and transformer manufacturer. Rather than offering a standard catalog of products, the company works closely with customers to understand application requirements, evaluate engineering challenges and provide end-to-end support from design consultation and prototyping to mass production.
“Our role is to stay close to our customers and support decision-making from both technical and business perspectives,” says Hiromune ISHII, president and representative director.
Reflecting this customer-focused approach, Sanshin Electric Co., Ltd also provides custom power supplies, transformers, semiconductors, electronic components and noise countermeasure components for applications across home appliances, industrial equipment and office automation.
Supporting Product Development from Concept to Production
Sanshin Electric Co., Ltd begins every transformer project by evaluating operating conditions, circuit design and performance targets to establish a clear technical direction. Building on this assessment, the company designs analog electronic components using its integral design approach to define specifications like winding structure, leakage inductance and cost-performance balance.
Many projects begin with technical challenges rather than complete specifications. In those cases, Sanshin Electric Co., Ltd collaborates with customers to identify the underlying engineering issues and define transformer specifications that align with operating conditions, circuit architecture and production objectives. Customers also benefit from recommendations that consider component selection, quality and cost.
Development then progresses through its in-house prototype transformer line in Japan, where transformers can be produced from a single unit for early-stage evaluation. Each prototype is supplied with comprehensive inspection data, allowing customers to verify electrical characteristics, temperature rise and circuit compatibility before approving the design. Flexible prototype and small-lot production capabilities also support pilot production, reliability validation and market testing, helping customers reduce development risk and transition smoothly to full-scale production.
Following prototype validation, Sanshin Electric Co., Ltd optimizes the design for mass production by balancing quality, cost and long-term supply continuity.
Sanshin Electric Co., Ltd treats each transformer as an integral part of the overall power supply system. As a technology-oriented components trading company, it draws on its expertise in analog power supply design to develop customized solutions.
Noise reduction is one area where this approach is particularly evident. Engineers evaluate magnetic flux flow, winding design and the relationship between radiated and conducted noise. Its proprietary spherical transformer technology uses a core structure to reduce both radiated and conducted noise while minimizing the need for additional noise countermeasure components.
In one LED lighting application where noise became a critical design challenge, Sanshin Electric Co., Ltd incorporated this technology to improve noise performance and reduce the need for additional noise countermeasure components. The same engineering philosophy extends to thermal management. Sanshin Electric Co., Ltd evaluates copper loss, bobbin design and the surrounding circuit environment to improve heat dissipation. Its proprietary Cool-Trans (Cool Bobbin) technology lowers transformer operating temperatures through an optimized bobbin structure.
In one switching power supply project, a customer sought to reduce heat generation while maintaining stable electrical performance within strict size constraints. Using the Cool-Trans technology, it improved thermal performance while maintaining the required electrical characteristics.
For product miniaturization, the company reviews core and bobbin design, winding configuration and circuit architecture to optimize overall system size. Its two-phase link technology, combined with an interleaved circuit method, integrates multiple magnetic components to reduce size, component count and cost.
By integrating system-level design with long-term technical partnership, Sanshin Electric Co., Ltd supports reliable product development from concept through stable mass production. Through customized engineering and proprietary transformer technologies, it remains committed to solving customer challenges through careful technical dialogue.
