“We are specializing in the development and production of one of the most difficult-to-achieve blue-light emitting semiconducting quantum dots. It is crucial for further developments in the display industry and could have a huge impact on lightning, photonics, and medical sectors, too,” says Artur Podhorodecki, CEO and founder of QNA Technology. “The environmental aspects are very important for us, so we use materials free of heavy metals like cadmium and lead for manufacturing the quantum dots, helping clients abide by the strict regulations of EU’s RoHS directive. We also make our manufacturing process as much soft for the environment as possible.”

It manufactures their QD in a colloidal format, where the user can define the physicochemical properties of the solution produced. QNA performs surface engineering of the QD by replacing the ligands generated post-synthesis or by modification of the outer shell of QD. This approach enables the suspension of QD in various solvents, including polar and non-polar solvents, monomers, and polymers, but also delivers QD in the form of various types of inks, from ink-jet to UV-curable inks. This has many practical benefits.
It also allows clients to print semiconductors on any surface, including flexible and transparent materials, by providing them with tailor-made quantum inks compatible with their preferred printing technology and the substrate.
QNA Technology stands out among other European nanotechnology research firms and startups due to their focus on the development of high-quality semiconducting quantum dots emitted blue light connected with parallel improvement of their producing methods and capabilities with the aim to be not a fabless R&D company only but contrary, the company with production of semiconducting nanomaterials located in Europe.
To cultivate quantum dots, QNA Technology uses the wet chemical approach, which involves liquid-based chemical reactions. This offers flexibility for growing various nanomaterials – not only blue light emitting QD while surpassing alternative methods in cost, space, and logistics. The QNA vision is to become the EU leader in colloidal semiconducting nanomaterials production and development starting from the Holy Grail of the display industry - blue light emitting QD.
This makes QNA the best choice for companies involved in new types of device development in which commercialization needs to go from the R&D stage through pilot towards production as the quality of the materials cannot change when jumping from one scale to another. This includes displays, lighting, sensors, photovoltaics, or medical applications.
Team QNA Technology, consisting of top European talents in chemistry, physics, and materials engineering—who drive the firm’s research and development works for innovations— also differentiates it. They offer R&D support to clients, providing advisory and assistance needed for manufacturing various devices using quantum dots. The firm also employs experienced business professionals from the U.S., U.K., Taiwan, and Japan to develop its business worldwide.
Amid the evolving display, bioimaging, and energy technology sectors, quantum dots combine the benefits of traditional semiconductors and optically active organic materials, offering enhanced technical capabilities, flexibility, durability, and stability. QNA Technology takes center stage in these developments due to its unparalleled quantum dot production approach. Striking the perfect balance between cost efficiency, quality, and solvent compatibility, it is the go-to option for clients exploring diverse product possibilities.
