CISSOID is focused on delivering cutting-edge power semiconductors tailored to the burgeoning EV sector. It has teamed up with Silicon Mobility, a semiconductor and software solution provider for EVs, to offer a highly integrated SiC inverter modular platform for accelerating the development of compact and effective SiC inverters for EV motor drives. The platform comprises a complete suite of components, from the power module and gate driver to the control board as well as software and other essential elements that facilitate quick prototyping. Using that modular platform, CISSOID have developed a complete SiC inverter reference design, enabling customers to have their electric motor spinning within a timeframe of 1 to 2 weeks, minimizing the prolonged timelines otherwise required, not only to develop a product, but mainly to fine-tune and optimize the design.

Their optimized solutions for power conversion and compact motor drives help the e-mobility and automotive industry achieve higher efficiency. This includes high-voltage gate drivers specifically designed for SiC and gallium nitride (GaN) transistors to control their power, and SiC power modules featuring low inductances and enhanced thermal performance, ensuring improved efficiency, reliability, and lifespan of conversion and control systems. The company offers automotive-grade components that are rated at 175 degrees Celsius, surpassing the AEC-Q100 Grade 0 qualification standard.

CISSOID’s high temperature product line features signal conditioning, gate drivers, power modules and discretes, timing, and power supply products capable of withstanding harsh environments, for example in the aviation and oil and gas sectors. These products can be reliably operated across an extremely wide temperature range, from minus 55 to 225 degrees Celsius, and were tested by NASA for their efficient and consistent performance in extreme conditions and even wider temperature ranges.

Where the company’s expertise in high temperature components comes into play, is in extending the lifetime of the components, and therefore extending the reliability of the end system. Higher ambient temperature in an application means higher junction temperatures in the semiconductors. High junction temperature over a prolonged time in a semiconductor means reducing its lifetime. Using components at the edge of their temperature range will reduce the overall reliability of the system and increase service costs.

E-mobility application environments can easily reach sustained temperature ranges of 80°C to 120°C, meaning devices with standard ratings of maximum 85°C junction temperature will already exceed their limits, and components with extended ratings up to 125°C will be operating at their edge, reducing the longevity. This is where the product range of CISSOID comes into its strength, with operating limits up to 175°C.
