6 December 2023France has been witnessing a transformative phase in its semiconductor manufacturing sector, propelled by technological advancements, research, and commitment to innovation. One of the most significant changes is the growing emphasis on nanotechnology and the development of increasingly smaller, more efficient semiconductor components. The Nano 2022 program is a national initiative to advance the development of nanotechnologies in France. The program focuses on critical domains, including materials and processes, instrumentation, and applications, involving collaborations between industry partners, research institutes, and government agencies. Additionally, the Grenoble Electronics and Systems Cluster (Minalogic), a regional innovation cluster, has been established, which brings together industry partners, research institutes, and government agencies to foster collaboration and innovation in the semiconductor industry. Progress has also been made in researching and producing advanced materials like gallium nitride (GaN) and silicon carbide (SiC) to create high-performance, energy-efficient semiconductors. Likewise, the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) has catalyzed a shift in semiconductor manufacturing towards specialized chips designed to meet the demands of these technologies. In this edition of Semiconductor Review, we showcase semiconductor manufacturing solutions providers in France aimed at providing clients with feasible and effective semiconductor manufacturing solutions. Among the featured companies is SCREEN Semiconductor Solution Co., Ltd, a major semiconductor equipment manufacturer for lithography coats and development, wet cleaning and etching, thermal annealing, and metrology applications. The magazine also features the expert perspectives of Giacomo Fiocchi, Senior Director of Electronics, Ariston Group, and Kevin Anderson, Director of Integration Technology Research, Qorvo, Inc. These esteemed professionals share their invaluable insights concerning the developments and challenges within the industry, along with the possible solutions. We hope these valuable insights from industry leaders featured in this edition will assist you in making informed decisions for your businesses.
